AD/Gifted Snug Sofa Review: The Launch of The Big Chill

Review based on AD/Gifted sofa.

Remember the days when ordering a new sofa meant a 6 week wait? And when that said 6 week wait, was wracked with anxiety over whether the sofa would fit through the front door?!

Well, things have changed a lot since then!

This week, I took delivery of a brand-new sofa (in a box!), delivered to my front door, less than three days after ordering.

Mind blown.

Snug Sofa Delivery Boxes

Snug are the Sofa in a Box Company, specialising in high quality, easy to assemble sofas, that get delivered quick. They are perfect for delivery to homes with tight spaces, as there’s no trying to squeeze a fully built sofa through tight doorways or through narrow staircases.

This week, we were sent a new sofa design from Snug’s latest collection – The Big Chill, in Blush Coral. The new sofa design features a wider, more modern arm, than its predecessor, The Rebel Collection, as well as straight metal legs.

The Big Chill design features wide arms and metal legs

My first impressions were that it’s incredibly easy to build. I knew from the website that it was going to be easy, but how easy it really is surprised me!

I had the sofa out of the box and fully assembled in less than 10 minutes. I didn’t need to read the instructions and needed no help whatsoever. That means, 5 foot 6 me me is able to carry and build a 3 Seater Sofa, no questions asked. There are no tools required, with sections simply sliding together, firmly in place.

The fact that the sofa is so easy to assemble, did leave me with a few questions over how stable the design might be, but it’s rock solid and feels sturdier than our old, pre-assembled sofa. Here’s Elodie testing it out below as proof!

The Snug Sofa passed Elodie’s unofficial jump test!

In terms of comfort and compared to our previous sofa, sitting on The Big Chill is like floating on a cloud. The sofa cushions are slightly on the firm side on first assembly, but 2 days in and they are beginning to soften a little, as you would expect.

As we’re in the middle of a heatwave, the sofa has been put through its paces earlier than expected! Last night, I spent the night sleeping on the sofa downstairs, rather than sleeping in our sweltering attic bedroom. I have to say, it was more comfortable than expected and felt more spacious than sofas I’ve slept on in the past (not that I make a habit of doing so!).

Free fabric swatches are available to order from Snug Sofa

This is the first fabric sofa my husband I have owned and I only wish we’d made the jump from leather sooner. Leather sofas have a creaky, sticky (in this heat!) feel to them, whereas the Snug Sofa easy-care fabric feels really comfortable. So far so good on the keeping clean front and to be honest, I’ve heard so many people say how stain resistant their Snug Sofa is, that I’m not worried about this at all.

Snug sofas can be ordered in a variety of colours, including Navy Velvet, Forest Green Velvet and Rich Teal. Free fabric swatches can be ordered from their website and if you fancy popping into a shop for a closer inspection, they have showrooms in Enfield, Old Amersham, Walton-on-Thames, Wilmslow and Manchester.

Lovely review, thank you. It is nice that the sofa passes your daughter test.

Six months on how are you getting on with the sofa? I cannot get my lovely big GPlan 3 seater up the stairs in my new town house so am looking at this as an option. Is it still as good as it was when you first got it?

Hi, it’s holding up well. It’s stain resistant and the cushions are firm, so they’ve kept their shape pretty well. My bug bear is the cushions sliding off, it does let it down a bit.

        Hi
I recieved my Big chill sofa yesterday. We do like it but is much firmer than what I’m used to.Do they soften much like they say? I don’t mind a little on the firm side but they’re pretty solid at the moment.

Hi Lesley, I would say mine are still on the firm side. More so the cushions we sit on, than the ones supporting your back. The back ones seem to have softened more than the bottom xx

Hi! We’re thinking of getting this, but can I ask your impression of it now that you’ve had it not far off a year? Is it still firm? Has the cushion sliding become an issue? And given it’s just held together with those little fasteners, do you feel it’s become any less solid or secure or stable? Thanks in advance!

Hi, sorry, I’ve only just seen this. The fasteners are very secure and the cushions stayed firm. We recently sold it though as I wanted a green sofa instead and being completely honest, the cushions sliding off did send me a bit potty.
