Life Lately …

Life lately - Elodie and Charlie in field

I’ve been a bit quiet on here lately. So much for the regular new content, huh?

Sometimes there are just too many things going on at once for me to be able to keep up. Other times, my brain just doesn’t function properly and consequently, I fall behind.

Most of the time, it’s a combination of the two.

Perhaps the best thing for me to do, is to stop setting unrealistic goals for myself? I have three young children, around which I need to fit in work, blogging and the monotonous responsibilities of everyday life. It’s only natural that I drop a plate or, as in my case, an entire dinner set, every now and then.

When I think of all the things I should be doing, I sometimes look at my children a bit enviously. Wouldn’t it be amazing to be two years old again? To have zero responsibilities or obligations? For no one to roll their eyes if you stamp your feet and have a tantrum, which even at 33, I’m still known to do every now and then.

I would miss wine though, so there is that.

I can’t complain though. Next week, we’re off on holiday for nearly 3 weeks. 3 weeks of sunshine and swimming in the pool is not to be sniffed at. No doubt I’ll have my fair share of wine whilst we’re there too.

I mean, really, what have I got to complain about?

So yeah, this kind of sums up life lately over here. Me, struggling to keep up, whilst counting down the weeks, days, hours and minutes until we go away. And with the weather we’ve been having, you could hardly blame me. This has been the least summery August in memory and I say this as a sit here under a duvet, wearing a chunky ribbed jumper.

I even started thinking about Baileys the other day, a sure sign that colder months are on the way. Either that, or a sign of my descent into alcoholism, it could be that too …

As for when we get back from holiday, we already have loads of things planned. We’re going to Moseley Folk festival at the beginning of September and going on a road trip to Bristol the following weekend. I quite like the thought of having fun things to come back to and I’m also looking forward to going back to a winter wardrobe.

Jumpers, tights and boots will always be my favourite.

Oh, and starting September, Elodie will be in nursery a few afternoons a week. This should hopefully make the juggling act a whole lot easier. Fingers crossed, at least.

So, if you’ve managed to stick with this post up to now (precisely 506 words of pure waffle), then bravo. Thanks for that. Hopefully, I will be right back here with more drivel sooner, rather than later.

In the meantime, enjoy the remnants of summer! Not long until we can all start drinking gingerbread lattes and stocking up on mulled wine again (see? it’s not all bad!).

I love reading your waffle! (It’s not waffle.) Man I am so jealous of you going away for three weeks! I hope you have a wonderful time but I may have to block you on Instagram during that time ? I’m with you on the weather; I was saying the other day that I’m kind of ready for winter now, at least I don’t have to change from a summer dress to jeans and jumpers (and get it wrong so often) every day in winter. Although the dark days and nights will make me miserable very quickly I’m sure and we’ll be whinging about that instead! xxx

It so is waffle!! Ha – I always feel like blocking people on Instagram when they go on holiday too. How dare they subject me to their happiness, while I’m under a grey cloud back home?? I’ve pretty much been dressing for winter too and yes, I know I’ll be moaning about how dark it is too. Particularly when I have photos to take for a sponsored post, and only like 5 minutes of sunlight a day! I think the only sensible solution is to move abroad xxx

First of all, this is a breath of fresh air. I know exactly how you feel, with three young ones of my own I constantly feel like I’m spinning around. Secondly, three weeks?!!! Where are you going? We’re going to Spain next week for ten days and I just can’t wait xxx

I love rambly posts like this – usually because it’s exactly what’s going on in my own head 🙂 I’m very jealous that you’re off on holiday for three weeks – I hope you have a wonderful time. And yes, always good to have lovely things to look forward to when you get home, to banish any chance of the dreaded post-holiday blues.

I love a waffley post, they are often my favourite to read!
We’re off on our holidays this weekend and I cannot wait, I know the kids are looking forward to getting out of the house too. All this rain has meant we’ve ended up staying at home more and we’re all pretty fed up of it.
Enjoy your time away and all that sunshine!! xx

Oh it’s natural to feel like that. I throw tantrums all the time about keeping up and trying to balance it all. Normally I am pretty good time management and other times I feel buried in it. Hahah the weather sounds awful in the uk this year. My hubby has been there suffering it while we are still in America bless him. Usually it’s just July that pours but sounds like August has been joining it this year. While I love our hot summers away I love having lots to do when we come back and September will mark MM starting school too. Eeek it has gone too fast. Enjoy your three weeks soak it all up babes. #wrc

Haha, regular content, I didn’t post anything for over a month!! Not sure where the time went as I barely had a minute. I loved this post and it is exactly how I feel at the minute, although with our summer holiday out of the way I’m ready for tights and boots now. I even said to my husband the other night, I am so ready for Autumn. Have an amazing holiday! xx

Not waffle at all! I find life gets more and more busy, or I become less and less better equipped to juggle it all xx
