3 Things You Need in Your November Life

Cashmere and denim

So this is the bit where I say “how the hell are we in November already?”.

But, seriously, how?

I feel like I was breaking my new years resolutions only yesterday and I haven’t yet had the chance to lose last years Christmas weight. Just how am I going to find room in my waist band for all the mince pies and Baileys I’m about to start downing?

Where there’s a will, there’s a way, eh?

I feel like November is the month when things start to feel a bit cosier. We’re out of the wanting to wear knitwear, while sweating like a pig season, and into seeing the breath leave your mouth weather. I quite like it when this happens because it makes me think of Christmas being just around the corner.

This is also the time of year where I tell myself to start ordering presents. But let’s be honest, I won’t be ordering anything until blind panic sets in.

Is it even Christmas without a little will it/won’t it arrive on time stress?

Anyway, thats enough Christmas chat for one day. Here are a few things I’ll be enjoying this fine month of November.

Black Vanilla Coffee

Cosy bed with coffee

If you’d told me a couple of months ago that I might enjoy drinking black coffee, I would have spat my milky white tea in your face. Turns out there’s a first for everything and I actually love drinking it (at least the vanilla kind).

I was given a jar of this Little’s Natural French Vanilla Infused Coffee as a freebie at an event a few months ago and hadn’t bothered to try it until last week. But I’m SO PLEASED I did, it’s really lovely.

I’ll be honest and admit that the only reason I tried it is because I’m an Instagram wanker who takes photos of black coffee. Because, lets be honest, milky tea looks pretty shite in photos. But either way, it tastes pretty good.

Topshop Orson Jeans

Denim on a chair

We all know that buying a new pair of jeans can be a hellish and depressing experience. Why is it so hard to find a pair that don’t make me look like two sausages smothered in denim?

I’ve probably tried just about every brand of jeans going, but thanks to my pear shaped genes, I often find that the waist gapes and the legs are so tight that they cut off blood circulation.

I’ve tried shopping for more expensive brands, because lord knows I’d love to look good in a pair of Levis, but I always go back to Topshop. For some reason, they’re the only brand of jeans that fit my shape. So why mess with a winning formula?

Right now, the fit that’s doing it for me are their Orson jeans. They’re high waisted, with low stretch and slim leg. Kind of a skinny/straight leg in-between.

I love them so much that I bought them three different colours.

All the Cashmere

I’m little bit obsessed with cashmere jumpers, which probably makes me sound way more chic and swanky than I actually am. But, to be honest, I’m just one of those people who’s always cold and cashmere is the antidote for that.

There’s no getting away from the fact that buying cashmere does mean splashing the cash upfront, but I promise you, it saves money in the long run. I’ve been wearing some of mine for years now and because they’re pricier, I only buy one or two more each winter.

We’re always told to buy less, but buy better and I think cashmere is a great place to start. Though I warn you, it’ll probably make you shun all other jumpers to the back of your wardrobe forevermore. I find all other wools pale in comparison to the super soft, luxurious feel of cashmere.

So much so, that I now have my eye on cashmere scarves, socks and joggers. And if you’re wondering, there is no such thing as too much cashmere.

I’m with you on the cashmere front, I love the stuff!! Although the dry-clean only part is a little annoying. I have the most amazing cashmere stocks from the white company that I love, love, love and will definitely be putting another pair on my Christmas list this year. I definitely need more cashmere in my life. Gorgeous post xx

I’m naughty and put mine on a gentle wash. They seem to fair OK with a gentle wash. I’ve been eyeing up those socks actually. I want a pair in light grey xx

Ooh cashmere sounds divine! I’ve never felt able to justify it but it’s probably one of those purchases that last a lifetime. The joggers certainly sound cosy! I’m with you on Top Shop jeans, although I’ve strayed across to Zara in recent years but might just have to head back again after reading your post. I’ve never tried this style on though or a skinny/straight let jean. Hmmm. Time for some jeans shopping! xx

They last forever!! Well worth spending a bit more on them. I used to buy Zara trousers, but haven’t tried any on in years now. I feel a Zara order coming on though. Have you seen their coats this year? I love them! xx

Hellish jeans buying β€” hands up here. Such a nightmare. I generally buy Boden ones β€” they seem to fit my shape really well. I’m off to look at the Topshop ones though β€” I have never yet managed to find a Topshop pair that fit my waist/arse ratio, so this could be a first!! πŸ˜‰ And YES to all the cashmere. I LOVE it. I think you could (probably) dress from head to foot and no-one would bat an eyelid at this time of year!! xx

Can you believe I have no cashmere in my life and I really do need to change that. And oh my goodness you have reminded me to pick up so vanilla coffee – always do at Christmas time x

Oh my god I am so glad I am not the only one that uses black coffee on Instagram but don’t drink it black hahaha but this sounds delicious. Do they do a decaf version? #wrc

I HATE shopping for new jeans. Gap used to fit me perfectly and then they changed the style slightly and suddenly they don’t fit anymore – I’m gutted! So now I have to find a new brand. I’ve never tried cashmere but I too am always cold and love a snuggly jumper so I think I might have to give it a try. Your ‘instagram wanker’ comment made me giggle out loud – I love your honesty πŸ™‚
