Dining Room Decor Inspiration

Dining Room Decor Inspiration

I may have started and not finished all the DIY jobs during lockdown, but that wont stop me from daydreaming about my next project. This evening, I’ve been scanning Pinterest for dining room decor inspiration because I have my eye on this room for our next redecoration project!

Having spent a long, long time scrolling through photos of other people’s dining rooms, there are a few things that stand out to me as being key ingredients for a beautiful dining space.

Invest in Beautiful Dining Chairs

Number one, invest in the best dining chairs you possibly can. One of the first pieces of furniture you look at in a dining room, are the chairs. I would argue that the design of these is even more important than the table itself. Not least because they sit in front of the table, making them more noticeable. Always look for chairs that are both beautiful and comfortable.

They don’t need to be matchy-matchy, a collection of beautiful vintage pieces can work just as well as a set of statement matching chairs.

Create a Focal Point with Lighting

Number two, create a focal point with great lighting. A common thread in many the most beautiful of dining rooms, is statement lighting, often positioned centrally over the dining room table. This design trick draws your eye into the room and creates interest.

I love how the circular shape of the light below echoes that of the table ! A stunning example of dining room decor!

Strategically Placed Artwork

Strategically placed artwork, like great lighting, can be used to create a focal point in a dining room, drawing your eye through the dining area. I love how the designer below has brought together artwork and lighting to frame the space. It’s a fantastic example of how creating a focal point can elevate an otherwise unremarkable room.

Say Yes to Botanicals

One of the simplest and most inexpensive ways to quickly elevate your dining room decor, is to add a vase of botanicals. Whether that’s a large bunch of flowers, some cut blossom, or a hanging dry flower arrangement, the addition of greenery will always improve a space.
